Current Obsessions 6 and Point System!

Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback on the clothing line. Each day this week, I'll try and post a picture of something from the line.

It seems like the majority of you want to participate in the point system. Points sound boring, so I'm just going to call them cookies because well everyone loves cookies. Whenever I post a journal, picture, video, poll, etc, the first 3 people who comment/buzz it, will get a cookie. And you can't just say "FIRST! Buzz! etc" Actually say what you feel about whatever I post- whether you like it or not. When you get to 20 cookies (Is that good? Too high? Too low? Just perfect?), you'll get a free shirt. Would you want it to be a suprise or would you rather pick the shirt you want?

Anyway, I hope you liked The Audition, The Morning Light, Kate Voegele, The Lives of Famous Men, and Tyler Brown Williams. Here are the rest of my obsessions for September. :D

1. Steve Moakler

Pittsburgh native,
Steve Moakler, has released 2 EPs. The Weight of Words (2007) for $4.95 and Like I Mean It (2008) for $2.97. In March, Moakler released his first full length, "All The Faint Lights". My favorite songs are "So Soon", "Run", "All The Faint Lights", and "Hesistate". Every single song from the EP and full length are worth buying. Listen to his music and fall in love with his soft voice and sweet melodies. Each song has catch lyrics that tell a story about where he's been and where he's going. He will be the next John Mayer. I'm dead serious when I say that too.

2. MGMT

Formerly known as The Management, Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden had to shorten it to MGMT because another artist was using the name The Management.
MGMT has been working on their new album, Congratulations, which should be released in early 2010. Goldwasser and VanWyngarden recently collaborated with rapper, Kid Cudi, in the song Pursuit of Happiness from Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Listening to each song of Oracular Spectacular makes me relaxed. Check out Electric Feel, Kids, The Youth, The Handshake, or Weekend Wars. In October, MGMT will be playing at the Treasure Island Music Festival with with Brazilian Girls, The Streets, Passion Pit, Girl Talk (another Pittsburgh native. wooo!), and many more.

3. The Goodnight Anthem

Pop/rock band from Philadelphia,
The Goodnight Anthem, has had their songs played on MTV shows like Next and Parental Control. Last Summer, they released Nights to Know You EP, which you can buy $3.99. Each week, The Goodnight Anthem will be covering a song. So far, they've covered Party In The USA, I'll Be, and Waking up In Vegas. So if you have a myspace, head on over to theirs and tell them what you think they should cover. Before TGA releases their new CD, they we will be putting out a B-side EP with songs that they wrote after recording and songs that couldn't make it on the new CD.  Each EP will be personally signed and have your name on the front. Keep checking their Myspace and Twitter for more details.

4. Sing It Loud

Signed to Epitaph Records (New Found Glory, Bring Me The Horirzon, You Me At Six, The Higher, Set Your Goals),
Sing It Loud, a pop-rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota has toured with This Providence, The Morning Light, Cobra Starship, Cash Cash, Forever The Sickest Kids, and many more.Their full length, Come Around, (2008) features Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack in "We're Not Afraid" and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low in "No One Can Touch Us". I love every SIL song. I guarantee that if you haven't heard of them until now, if you look up any song by them, you'll have it on repeat for a while. I highly suggest you watch their Meet The Band videos. They're HILARIOUS. This fall/winter they will be touring with Forever The Sickest Kids, The Rocket Summer, My Favorite Highway, and other bands on select dates. I have met these guys and they are seriously the funniest, sweetest, craziest guys I have ever met. So if they are coming to your city, buy your tickets NOW. It's going to sell out fast.

5. Between The Trees

"One tree represents where time and existence begins. The other is the end of everything. Between them is the time we're given on Earth. What matters is what we do with that time." -Ryan Kirkland

Now, it doesn't get any simpler than that, does it? In 2006, they released their first debut album, The Story and the Song. Check out "The Way She Feels", "White Lines and Red Lights", and "Words". A year later, they were signed to The Universal motwon/Universal Republic. There were some problems and BTT decided their next album would be self-released. Listen to "We Can Try", "Spain", " Miss You", "Story of a Boy", and "Changed By You".

I hope you like the bands. The first 3 to comment/buzz this gets a cookie. GO! (:

peacee,

<3Jenny

Clothing Line.

I have some sketches that I'll upload soon, but before I do, I would like to know what you guys perfer. So if you could just fill out the survery and comment below, that would be great. :D

I still need to think of a logo and name.. Haha. Any ideas? I'm thinking about doing something with my name (Jenny Dang), but that seems so blah and unoriginial, ya know? Maria (crazyxmaria) suggested Dang!Jenny with some bow, flower, picture. I don't know. HELP!

Is it like plagarism/illegal to make band shirts with lyrics on them? What are the copy right rules?

I want to do some sort of contest thing. Whenever I post a journal/picture/video etc, the first 2 or 3 people who comment on it will get a point. Whenever you get up to a certain amount of points, you'll get a free shirt. Would you guys want to do that?

Current Obsessions 5

Hellooo. Thanks for reading my Current Obessions 4. I hope you guys like the bands. Here are the first part of the obsessions for September. But before you check out these bands, you HAVE to listen to this song. The Academy Is has a new song called Sputter featuring Jack's Mannequin. So listen to it. You'll LOVE it!!

1. The Audition

This 4 piece alternative pop/rock band from Michigan just finished touring with Cobra Starship on the Hot Mess tour. Through out September and October, The Audition will be on tour with All Time Low and The Friday Night Boys in Europe. All the shows are sold out, so whoever is going, I hope you have an amazing time. Each band is amazing live. Champion is my favorite album. They released a self titled album in April. All the songs are catchy, but it's just a little poppy for me. They kinda sound the same. I'm in love with the song "It's Gonna Be Hard (When I'm Gone) Danny's voice and an acoustic guitar is beautiful. I saw them in April last year with The Morning Light, Every Avenue, and Hit The Lights. They were so good live. It was my first time ever going to a show, so I didn't really know what to expect. I had so much fun. Everyone was dancing like crazy during 'Hell to Sell'. People started a mosh circle pit and someone got punched in the face.. Hahah. So you'll have a fun time if you get to see them this fall. I hope you don't get punched in the face. LOL.

2. The Lives of Famous Men

I heard of them when Dylan and Jason (piano) added me on facebook. I can't really describe who they sound like. Just listen for yourself.  Right now they have 2 EPs out for about 3 or 4 dollars. My favorite is 'Modern Love, The Wooden Vehicle'. If you don't want to buy all of their songs, at least buy 'Sunshine' and 'Chandeliers and Piano Keys'. At the end of October, they will be playing a couple shows in OH, NY, and MA with The White Tie Affair, Every Avenue, Runner Runner, and Stereo Skyline. I haven't seen Runner Runner live yet, but I have seen everyone else live and this show is definetely worth going to.

3. Kate Voegele

Does anyone still watch One Tree Hill? Or am I the only one? Kate Voegele plays Mia, an aspiring singer who is recording some songs with Peyton and quickly becomes friends with the people of Tree Hill and plays Chase's love interest. (I think? Well he's the bartender. I haven't seen this show in a while) I remember hearing her sing 'It's Only Life' and 'Only Fooling Myself' on the show and falling in love with her voice. Right now, she has 2 albums out. I don't have a favorite song. There all good. She is on tour right now so check her myspace for dates. And if you do watch OTH, she will be on tonight.

4. The Morning Light

Hailing from my hometown, Pittsburgh, TML has toured with All Time Low, The Maine, Sing It Loud, This Providence, and many more. They have an EP called The Sounds of Love and a self titled album, which was released a year ago. Every song has an upbeat melody and catch lyrics. I personally like the original version of Clouds. Some of my favorites from the self titled album are "Wake up!", "Brand, New, Friends, and "Done Writing Love Songs". If you plan on buying any of their songs, I highly recomend buying their EP and those 3 songs. The Morning Light isn't on tour right now. I think they've been working on recording an EP.

5. Tyler Brown Williams

Remember Stephen Jerzak from Current Obsessions 4? Do you like acoustic pop artists? Well then you'll love Tyler. Unfortunately, you can't get buy any of his songs off of iTunes or a CD because he doesn't have one yet.. But I'm sure you can download it off of Youtube. Youtube has everything nowadays. Crazynesss. Did you know that Youtube was invented in Pittsburgh, PA? Anyway, he only has 3 songs on his myspace right now and I can't stop listening to them.Tyler's voice is just calming.

I hope you like them. Well I'm off to watch OTH, Gossip Girl, Big Bang Theory, and CSI: Miami if I ever finish studying for a stupid spanish test tomorrow. Imperfect and preterite is so confusing. Anyway, I hope everyone has an amazing week.

peacee,

<3Jenny

New Record: No Buzznet For 3 Weeks.

HELLOOO BUZZNET!! I have missed you guys soo much. How have you been?! I logged on today to find over 20 messages and 50 notes- some asking where I've been and if I'm alive. I'm alive. Don't worry.  I feel so loved. Hahahh.

My internet has been broken for the past 3 weeks. :/ It sucked. Verizon put me on hold for an hour and basically said "You're internet modem is broken. We'll send someone to fix it soon." Well no crap it's broken. A monkey could've figured that out. Have you ever had to call a company and they put you on hold and make you listen to crappy music. I was going crazy having to listen to elevator music. For an HOUR. -__- Anyway, no one came on Friday and the guy called and rescheduled to come on Saturday. He didn't come on Saturday. He came on Tuesday and gave us a broken modem. Idiot. They finally sent us a new modem a week later and it still didn't work. So they sent someone to fix it today and it's fixed. YAYY.

Anyway, I feel bad about not being able to post Current Obsessions 5 yet, so it will be up this Monday and Current Obsessions 6 will be up the following Monday. :D

I'm thinking about starting a 365 photo project soon. Maybe this weekend? Who has an All Time Low fic named Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)?? They asked me to make a banner for them and I forget what their username... : So if you're reading this, MESSAGE ME so I can make you your banner. :D

In 5th and 6th grade, I went through this whole phase where I wanted to be a fashion designer. I still have the book of dresses I designed. Haha. For now, I just want to make t shirts. I have a few ideas in my head and when I get the chance, I'll draw them out and upload them to Buzznet. I would donate some of the money to an organization like Music Saves Live or one that teaches children how to play instruments who can't afford to. I think it's so sad that some schools are beginning to cut music classes. Some schools don't even have music classes to begin with. I'm so thankful that my school offers classes like music tech, music theory, band, orchestra, and chorus. If I started a clothing line, would you guys wear it? The shirts will be cheap. I'm thinking $15ish? I'm open to all ideas. What would YOU want to see on a shirt? Please comment below or message me.

Peaceee,

<3Jenny
